It started with a car stolen from Grass Valley and sparked a weekend pursuit in two nearby counties, with an Auburn man being arrested. Placer County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer, Angela Musallam, says 46-year-old Michael Coman was first spotted driving southbound on Highway 49, in the Auburn area, late Saturday morning….
The chase included busy stretches of westbound Interstate 80 and northbound Highway 65, as well as streets, where he blew through traffic signals. At one point, deputies slowed down and allowed a CHP air unit to monitor the driver, who appeared to be listening to a police scanner, as Coman was able to dodge spike strips. After returning to the Auburn area, Musallam says Coman stopped north of Auburn Ravine Road and ran off into a residential area. A perimeter was set up before a K-9 located him inside his home, where he was arrested without further incident…
The charges against Coman also include being under the influence of a controlled substance and violation of parole.
