The head has hung in the front lobby for years before it was taken between midnight and 7 in the morning.  The Placer County Sheriffs Department searched local pawn shops and taxidermists, as well as online for the moose, to no avail.  Finally, Sergent Hunt says they started a media blitz in the hopes that someone had seen the head.  It was returned by a local citizen, who said he found it the morning after the theft and took it home with him.
