Street of Dreams Most Successful Ever

It was the most money ever donated at the recent annual Street of Dreams fundraiser for Nevada County’s Habitat for Humanity. Executive Director Lorraine Larson says over 250 people came together at the Veterans Memorial Building in Grass Valley for the dinner and auction. And they raised their paddles for over 100-thousand dollars to be applied directly for the next home construction project…

Since the local chapter was formed in 1995, 44 homes have been completed…

Officials say affordable homeownership opportunities in the county are scarce for households at 80-percent of the Area Median Income and below. But Larson says there are usually more suitable parcels available in rural and less densely-populated areas.
