Nevada City’s Pioneer Park will be getting a much improved picnic area, and the Madelyn Helling Library will be able to build a new stage and seating area behind the library with Recreation Funding approved by the Nevada County Board of Supervisors today. Planning Director Brian Foss says AB-1600 provides for developer fees to be collected to fund recreation projects in the benefit zones which are the Grass Valley, Twin Ridges, and Nevada City areas.
Three proposals for funding came from Nevada City for Pioneer Park and One proposal was prepared by the county for the Library project. *
This would go to improvements in four existing picnic areas in Pioneer Park. *
The panel did recommend funding of $8,910 for thePioneer Park picnic areas, and 49er Breakfast Rotary has also volunteered to contribute $4,000 in worktime and improvements toward the project. The Performance Stage and seating for the Madelyn Helling Library project was also approved for $13,750 dollars in funding. Two projects did not receive funding, portable fencing for the little league outfield at Pioneer Park….and a one third mile Roll and Stroll Path with picnic tables and a bike rack.
