Supervisors Recognize Mental Health Advocate

Nevada County Supervisors today recognized Joan Rogers Toensing  for her  years of service on the Nevada County Mental Health Advisory board.  Joan came to Nevada County from Los Angeles County, where she had been a social worker. She was appointed to the Mental Health Advisory Board  in 1994, shortly after it was established in 1991. She served as Chair from 2002-2012.
Supervisor Terry Lamphier, in reading the proclamation says  Joan volunteered at the individual level to help people find appropriate services, and was always there to help strengthen the safety net for individuals and families.

Joan-Rogers-ToensingSupervisor Lamphier went on to say Joan is a reliable, thoughtful and catalytic player in creating a stronger community response to mental illness.
