Supes Approve Federal COVID Relief Expenditures

A plan for spending part of over 19-million dollars of federal coronavirus recovery money has been approved by Nevada County Supervisors. The County has received the first half of the funding, or nine-point-six million dollars. And the Board, at their Tuesday meeting, gave the go-ahead for spending five-point-two million of that allotment. County Executive Office Management Analyst, Barry Anderson, told the Board it should be divided up into two categories…community and economic resiliency, and recovery of revenue and costs…

Anderson says types of projects that fit into cost-recovery criteria have now been identified by county departments and agencies…

And Anderson says three projects have been identified in the community and economic resiliency category: microgrants of up to five-thousand dollars for small businesses…low-interest loans for small businesses…and a community benefits grant program. Counties have until the end of 2024 to spend all the recovery money, which is through the American Rescue Plan Act.
