Suspect Arrested for Evading Officer

It took almost 24 hours but a suspect arrested for evading a peace officer following an attempted traffic stop. Grass valley Police Lt. Alex Gammelgard says the incident began when an officer spotted a car driving recklessly near Brunswick and Plaza Street in Grass Valley.

The officer attempted t make a vehicle stop at the intersection, but the driver had a different idea turning on to Idaho-Maryland and accelerating way from the officer.

The officer pursued as the vehicle as it accelerated to speeds greater than 60 MPH on the narrow road.

The pursuit was canceled as the vehicles entered the residential area near St. Ledger Forest Rd.
An area check of the area did not locate the suspect vehicle. Officers on the subsequent shift followed up with an investigation and identified a potential suspect.

26 year old Justin Evans was taen into custody at his Bruma Rd residence for evading a police officer with disregard to public safety. Evans did not have warrants or other outstanding issues with law enforcement but refused to comment on why he elected to outrun the officer the prior evening.
