At approximately 8:30PM a citizen called law enforcement dispatch to report that she saw the vehicle being sought in connection to the assault of Mary Grace Tassone. She confirmed the vehicle description and the license plate. The vehicle was parked in the K-Mart parking lot located on McKnight Way in Grass Valley. She also reported that the vehicle was occupied by a single male subject. Grass Valley police officers, with the assistance of CHP units in the area, responded to the scene and took Alan Kierkegaard into custody. The vehicle was towed from the scene to be processed for forensic evidence. At this time detectives are continuing the investigation and additional information will be provided at a later time.

GVPD has been in contact with the Tassone family who extends their warmest and heartfelt appreciation to the community for their support and vigilance in locating the suspect in this case.
