A Grass Valley man familiar to local law enforcement is back behind bars after a reported assault and a pursuit. After midnight Monday morning, the department received a report of an assault in the 26-thousand block of Highway 49 in North San Juan. Nevada County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Bill Smethers says when deputies arrived, there was no sign of the suspect, but a deputy found a woman in a car, and began to ask her if she had seen anything.
Smethers says after a pursuit southbound on Highway 49, the vehicle was found with no one in it, and the car still running.
That suspect gave a false name at first, but deputies recognized him as 27 year-old Landon Kehn. He faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, driving on a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, and several felony warrants.
