Suspect Attempts To Hit Deputy, Flees

A Grass Valley man familiar to local law enforcement is back behind bars after a reported assault and a pursuit. After midnight Monday morning, the department received a report of an assault in the 26-thousand block of Highway 49 in North San Juan. Nevada County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Bill Smethers says when deputies arrived, there was no sign of the suspect, but a deputy found a woman in a car, and began to ask her if she had seen anything.
