Suspect In Fatal Crash Rejects Competency Rept

An 80-year-old man accused of murder in a fatal New Year’s eve accident has now been found mentally competent to face prosecution. A Nevada County judge has accepted the evaluation of a doctor regarding Raymond Poquette. The report had been requested by the defense attorney. In the New Year’s eve accident, Poquette reportedly made an unsafe turning move with his motorhome into the opposite lane of Highway 49, in the south county. He collided with another vehicle head-on, killing a Chico woman. A murder charge is allowed, due to a history of vehicle-related crimes.
