Suspected Homicide Arrest in Placerville

An arrest  in a suspected homicide was made in the Placerville area yesterday evening after deputies responded to a 911 call of a reported altercation in the area of Brown’s Road and Cold Springs Road, just North of Placerville.
El Dorado County Sheriff Sgt Jim Byers says the sheriff’s office recieved a poor quality cell phone call around 4:10 PM.

County fire units and deputies responded and located the victim, 20 year old Matthew Steele of Auburn,  at the intersection in a parked vehicle and citizens were performing CPR.

Wesley-HampshireWitnesses reported the suspect had fled the scene on foot and an investigation led deputies to 18 year old Wesley Hampshire of Placerville.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives are attempting to determine what the caused the intial altercation.
