Suspects Used UPS in Act of Fraud

Law enforcement is issuing a warning to residents. Nevada County Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Pettit says a local man received a package delivered by UPS earlier this month. The victim told the driver no one by the name of Ron Chamberlin, which was on the package, lived at that address. The UPS driver returned the package. The Captain says the next day another package arrived with the same name on it. This time the victim called a telephone number on the package. At midnight a man identifying himself as Chamberlin went to the victims home and retrieved the box. The Captain says the victim got suspicious and called the UPS fraud division. Upon their advise he checked his credit cards balances.

The Captain said each of the packages were mailed to Ron Chamberlin. Deputies are currently following up on the case.
