Swimmer Dies in Yuba River

The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office reports a 33 year old man died Friday afternoon while swimming in the Yuba River. He was with a friend on the river between Bridgeport and Rices Crossing.  At one point the friend looked for his companion and  found him face down in the water. He quickly pulled his friend out of the water but he was not breathing at that point. He drove to the nearest home and called 91.  Emergency responders tried to revive the victim but he was pronounced dead around 4 pm. The coroner is awaiting results of an autopsy but the sheriff says there doesn’t appear to be anything suspicious in the death.
