What a wild and scenic trip it’s been for the The South Yuba River Citizen’s League. SYRCL staffer Melinda Booth says the grassroots organization was formed 30 years ago to stop dams from being built on the South Yuba river.
Booth says it was a big fight and a long fight but in 1999 SYRCL achieved Wild and Scenic status for 39 miles of the South Yuba River. SYRCL Executive Director Caleb Dardick says “What a Wild and Scenic Trip it’s Been” is an appropriate title for SYRCL’s big 30th Anniversary party this weekend at the North Star house.
