Dardick says he wants to support his wife, as she starts a new career, just as she supported his return to the Yuba watershed in 2011. He says highlights of his tenure include saving the South Yuba River and Malakoff Diggins state parks…getting funding to restore the Bridgeport covered bridge…and what he describes as the “groundswell” of opposition to the Centennial Dam project. Meanwhile, he says one of the biggest challenges for the future relates to the ever-increasing popularity and use of the river…

Dardick says he will also now have time to complete his memoir about his family’s adventures travelling in a Volkswagon bus to India in the early 1970’s, as well as growing up in Nevada County along the river. He officially steps down, following the 20th anniversary of the Yuba River Cleanup Day on September 16th.
