A major legal victory for the U-S Forest service regarding it’s Off-Highway Vehicle restrictions in the Tahoe National Forest, including in Nevada County. A federal appeals court says the service considered a reasonable range of alternatives before closing 807 out of 869 “user-created” miles to OHV’s. OHV owners sued, alleging a variety of procedural defects arising out of an environmental impact analysis. The appeals court upheld the restrictions. The Tahoe National Forest recently held annual public meetings on Off-Highway Vehicle use. It covers 871-thousand acres, also including parts of Sierra, Placer, Yuba, Plumas, and El Dorado counties.
