Target Practice Leads to Shooting Incident

A group of people who were doing some  target practice in the high country would up with one of their party  shot. North San Juan Fire Battalion Chief Boyd Johnson says the incident happened when the group was shooting in rural Sierra County and a pistol misfired.

The victim that was shot was brought by car to the Fire Station in North San Juan.

Johnson says it was a penetrating gunshot wound but  its difficult for  the paramedics  to gauge the extent of internal injury.  He says that’s up to a surgeon to evaluate.

Boyd says the man’s condition when they last saw him was “hopefully good.”
