Tax Scam Alert

Another reminder that there are people looking to take advantage of the unsuspecting citizen. This time it involves fake callers claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service. KNCO listener, Marylin, was contacted by a potential scammer Wednesday morning.

Marilyn said the scam involved making a late payment on supposed delinquent taxes.
In reality, Marillyn does not owe any taxes.

If you are contacted by a suspected scammer, contact the IRS through the website IRS.gov and also contact the sheriff’s office.
