The Nevada County Tea Party is one of the original groups formed by Tea Party co-founder and local resident, Mark Meckler in 2009, and currently has 1,524 members. Nevada County Tea Party Treasurer C.J. Bryant says the group is not a political party but was formed to be a tool for grass roots people to gain information. There are three principles that they believe in, free markets, fiscal conservancy, and that government should be constitutionally limited. Bryant says Tea Party members are also committed to assisting local educators in teaching the constitution in elementary and middle schools.
