TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, which is “ideas worth spreading.” The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. Jesse Locks is one of the organizers of a local TED X event coming to grass valley this weekend and she explains how TED, who is not a real person by the way, got started.
At TEDx events, a screening of TEDTalks videos — or a combination of live presenters and TEDTalks videos — sparks deep conversation and connections. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. Locks says the local TED X will spin off of a two day event in Washington DC this weekend focusing on Women.
The local event is from 4 to 9 pm on Sunday December 2nd at the Center for the Arts in Grass Valley . Admission is $35 and more information is available on the Center for the arts website.

I'd love more information about attending the event even if it means volunteering to do so. Please let me know how I can get involved.
Thank you,
Randall Merrill
