California’s adolescent birth rate has dropped to another record low, although not Nevada County. In 2015, there were 17.6 births per 1,000 females aged 15-19, the latest numbers available, a 10% decline from the previous year. But Nevada County’s rate was up about a point-and-a-half, at 11.2. However, the rate for 2013-2015 is the 7th lowest among the state’s 58 counties, at 11.3. The Director of Nursing at the County Health Department is Cindy Wilson. Most smaller, rural foothill counties also continue to have low teen birth rates. 3-year rates are even lower in Placer County, at 8.3, and in El Dorado County, at 9.2.
