Teens Involved in Auburn Fatal Accident

A carload of teens were in an SUV at the time the vehicle overturned last night, killing two girls just outside of Auburn.
According to CHP Officer David Martinez, The teens were traveling southbound on Auburn Folsom Road when their sport-utility vehicle flipped just after 7:30PM.

The driver was 16 years old. Martinez said the driver should not have been at the wheel with kids in the car.

All passengers in the SUV were 17 or younger and from Placer County. Under a provisional license the driver cannot transport passengers under 20 years of age unless a licensed adult age 25 years or older is in the car.

Officer Martinez reminds all parents of the provisional restrictions and that all passengers should wear seat belts.

The accident is still under investigation. Martinez said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
