‘Tele Town Hall’ on Fire Fee

Nevada County’s representative on the state Board of Equalization will be holding what he is calling a ‘tele town hall’ regarding Cal Fire’s confusing and controversial fire prevention fee. That’s the 150 dollar-a-year fee that many rural homeowners have been assessed for fire protection. The conference call is co-sponsored by State Senators Jim Nielsen and Ted Gaines, and Assemblymembers Brian Dahle and Dan Logue. Runner advises you to check a website they’ve set up at cal-fire-fee-dot-com, and then pre-register by calling his office…

The town hall teleconference will be at 6pm and should last about an hour. Last week, there was a similar teleconference for residents of northern counties, which took about 60 questions from 800 callers. The number to register again is (916) 324-4970.
