Terry Lamphier Resigns from GV City Council

Newly-elected Grass Valley City Council Member Terry Lamphier has resigned. In a four-sentence e-mail addressing city officials, Lamphier wrote, “It is with regret that I hereby tender my resignation from Grass Valley City Council, effective immediately. I will return materials and include a letter with my signature soon but wanted you to have time to prepare before the next meeting. I greatly appreciate the professionalism manifested by (City Manager) Bob Richardson, (City Attorney) Michael Colantuono and (City Clerk) Kristi Bashor in our meetings. I wish you and the City the best going forward.” Grass Valley Mayor Jason Fouyer tells KNCO that he was blindsided by the resignation….

This situation smells. It is hard to believe that an intelligent person is going to use government computers at work to do anything questionable, especially an activity that is so universally condemned. I would expect a deranged person to restrict such activity to a secured, personal computer at home with the door locked. The timing of the incident is also very suspect.
