With the total number of confirmed COIVD cases in Nevada County surpassing 10 thousand yesterday, along with 163 cases considered active and deaths now at 121, the focus as we go into the holidays is the rapidly spreading Omicron variant, but this year because of reduced restrictions there seems to be an uptick in the flu. There is overlap between COVID symptoms and flu symptoms. Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jeffery Rosenburg says new tests look for multiple viruses.
Dr.Rosenburg says this holiday season is much different than last year, mostly because of what the medical profession has learned about COVID over the last 20 months.
Again handwashing, limit touching your face, social distancing and wearing masks in groups will help reduce the spread both the flu and covid.
