I’ve already said my farewell to the Sacramento Kings. It seems the team is on it’s way to the great Northwest and the wetter climes of Seattle.
I cut my emotional ties to the team when the Maloof’s quit fielding a competitive team. They truly didn’t care about the product they were putting on the court, why should I?
But now I have learned that the new Seattle owners are changing the name of the team too. It’s kinda sad. The Kings have sported a royal monicker since their inception in the 1920’s. It’s coup of a sports sort, it’s the NBA version of King Louis XVIII and his trip to the head doctor. The new ownership is bringing back the Supersonics name. The name Supersonics is a nod to the aircraft industry there in Seattle. The home town of Boeing.
Boeing Aircraft, the people that brought us the 787 Dreamliner. You are undoubtedly familiar with the 787. It’s been in the news a lot recently. Seems there is a problem with the on board batteries. They keep going up in smoke.
Now the towns newest sports franchise has a chance to show the folks at Boeing what going up in smoke REALLY looks like . . . . . . . . . .
