The Search and Rescue Effort in Deer Creek Area has Been Suspended

The search and rescue effort in the Deer Creek drainage area near the Tribute Trail has been suspended.  At approximately 1:00 PM, a male subject was located in need of medical assistance on Old Downieville Road near the search area.  The subject, a 57 year old male from Nevada City, CA was transported to the Emergency Room with a head injury.  The subject stated he fell in the woods near the creek early this morning, and became unconscious for several hours. Specific statements from the injured party are pending due to the injuries he sustained.

A transient camp in the search area on Deer Creek was located, and it is believed there was a disturbance at the camp between several male and female subjects last night.  The investigation is continuing.

Based on the subject being located, the search teams are being demobilized.  Mutual aide volunteers from Placer, El Dorado and Sacramento Counties assisted as well as the Nevada City Police Department and the California Highway Patrol.
