Third Arrest This Year For Lake of the Pines Man

A hit and run accident in Lake of The Pines Friday afternoon involving a familiar suspect. Around 1:20 PM a driver following a school bus   came to stop when the bus driver activated its flashing red lights and stop sign. According to CHP Officer Justin Barnthouse, the vehicle behind him was traveling too fast in order to stop in time.*

However, a Lake of The Pines Security Officer witnessed the collision and recognized the driver as Michael James Gildea. The officer was able to provide the investigating officer with Gildea’s name and vehicle information. The officer was initially unable to locate Gildea, but returned to his residence several hours later.*

Gildea had borrowed his mother’s car without her permission and was driving on a suspended license.  Though he appeared intoxicated while speaking with the officer, it was not possible to determine if he was under the influence at the time of the collision. Gildea was booked for hit and run and driving on a suspended license. Gildea has been arrested three times this year in incidents involving his mother and borrowing her car.
