Third Candidate For Seat On NID Board

A third candidate has emerged for a seat on the Nevada Irrigation District Board of Directors. Nevada County Planning Commissioner, Ricki Heck, is running for the Division 1 seat that will be vacated next year by Nancy Webber, who’s retiring. Heck, along with two candidates for the Divsion 2 seat, John Volz and Bruce Herring, have been critical of the NID Board’s lack of transparency and accountability, with all three citing the Centennial Dam project…

Heck also questions NID’s budget spending priorities. She says $800,000 is a very inadequate amount for the district’s Community Investment Program, which extends water lines to residents without service. She says an expansion of the program would provide more fire protection and reduce homeowner insurance costs. The election is about a year away, in November of 2018.
