Thousands Of COVID Test Kits On The Way

Just in time for Christmas and New Year’s, Nevada County Public Health is going to be receiving thousands of COVID self-testing kits. For several weeks, the rapid tests have been in short supply in a number of areas around the state and country. County Public Health Officer, Doctor Scott Kellermann, says he hopes this shipment will help alleviate those concerns…

The distribution methods aren’t expected to be announced before the arrival of the kits. But Kellermann says the priority for getting them will be people who are more economically disadvantaged. There are a number of reasons for the shortage. That includes new demand from employers returning to in-office work. Manufacturers also bet against the need for testing, as cases dropped dramatically last spring, when vaccinations became available.
