What may have been a major cocaine ring in Nevada County has been stopped, thanks to a traffic stop, and the help of Nevada City’s police dog. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says Narcotics Task Force detectives were doing surveillance of a business in Grass Valley known to carry and sell large amounts of butane canisters. They observed a vehicle pull into that store, and then leave a short time later. The vehicle had expired tags, and was eventually pulled over on Commercial Street in Nevada City. A search warrant was later obtained for both of their residences, which turned up drugs and several firearms. Also, 30 year-old Austringer Roy was arrested at one of the homes. He had been wanted on previous felony warrants.
