Tire Amnesty Events This Week

Once a year, there’s a chance for Nevada County residents to not have to pay for dumping old tires at a Waste Management facility. For one week, Monday through Friday, there are amnesty events at several transfer stations, in conjunction with the county and the Bureau of Land Management. Garcia says tires can be a breeding ground for mosquitos, especially during the rainy season, and are a serious air pollution concern, if they catch on fire. Nevada County residents can dispose up to nine tires during an event, although you can apply for an exemption if you want to drop off more. That’s from 8am to 2pm at the McCourtney Road Transfer Station, Monday and Tuesday…the North San Juan Transfer Station, on Wednesday and Thursday…and the Washington Transfer Station on Friday.
