Several hundred people will be descending on the Yuba River tomorrow–not for a rafting trip or for swimming, but to help clean it up. There’s an American River cleanup project tomorrow, as well as many others. SYRCL Community Engagement Manager Jenn Tamo says when they started two decades ago they were at two sites. Now they have over 30, all the way from Donner Summit down to Marysville. They collected over seven tons of garbage and recyclables last year alone, and Tamo says volunteers have found some strange things over the years…
The cleanup is in the morning, followed by a lunch and party at Pioneer Park in Nevada City for the participants. Last year, there were over 800 volunteers that took part in the cleanup effort.
