Too Inviting for Thieves to Pass Up

Law enforcement says local residents are aiding car thieves. CHP Officer Greg Tassone says all the local law enforcement agencies are seeing an increase in the number of stolen cars. Tassone says in the majority of the cases, the thieves are using keys left in the vehicles, or in some cases the thieves are using keys hidden on the cars by the owners.

Officer Tassone says lock your vehicle and take your keys. Many residents living in very rural areas are not locking their cars and making it easy for thieves. Some of the stolen cars have not been recovered.
