Tour Saturday to You Bet Minesite

Historian and author Jerry Brady will be returning to his roots in the Old Red Dog – You Bet mine territory this Saturday for the annual Nevada County Historical Society trek to the site where Placer and Hydraulic mining ruled in the 1930’s. Brady is the lone survivor of his family of 9 siblings and says he will continue to host the annual tour to the area of his childhood as long as he can.

This is the 31st year of Brady leading the tour. He will tell the narrative of the dynamic characters of the day and the operations of the mines.

Brady says stops include a former homestead, town site, historic cemeteries and hydraulic mining diggings and you may see some remnants of the town of You Bet that burned in 1915.
The annual Brady tour of You Bet and Old Red Dog will be this Saturday September 27th . from 8:30 am to about 2:30 pm. Wear clothes and shoes for walking short distances on dirt/gravel ground. Bring a lunch and water and a folding chair or seat cushion as there are no tables at the picnic site. The tour is free and open to the public.
