Trade Unions Host Veteran’s Job Fair Tuesday

The Trade Unions in the Sacramento Sierra region are hosting a Job Fair tomorrow (Tuesday) specifically targeted for Veterans in the process of re-entering the work force. The two hour event, “Helmets to Hardhats” is in Sacramento at the Ironworkers Local 118 Training Center. Sacramento Sierra Building and Trades Council President Dennis Canevari, says a number of apprenticeship training centers will be presenting information to inform veterans with job possibilities with the trades.

Of particular interest is the connection between the construction of the the new King’s Arena Complex and the developer’s commitment to employ veterans on the project.

Canevari says that with the downturn in the recession there was decline in the skilled labor force in the area and as construction increases there will be a need to fill those vacancies.
