Traffic Light Issue Snarls Traffic on McKnight Exit

A traffic light that was not functioning properly had traffic backed up on a Highway 49 offramp. According to CHP Officer Justin Barnthouse the left hand turn signal was malfunctioning and not cycling properly at times on the southbound McKnight Way exit.

Apparently there was some sort of a sensor issue that was not allowing the left turn signal to change from red to green. Barnthouse stresses that treating a red light like as a stop sign is only permissible if the light is malfunctioning- not just because you are in a hurry.
