Traffic Stop In Nevada City Leads to Two Arrests

Malfunctioning lights on a vehicle caught the attention of a sheriff deputy driving on Zion Street in Nevada City Wednesday night. According to Sheriff Keith Royal the deputy initiated a stop and identified the driver as a James Karpus, 43 and a passenger Daniel Duckworth 32 of Gardnerville, Nevada. Karpus is a familiar face to local law enforcement.

Karpus’s history on top of new charges led to deputies taking him into custody.

Daniel Duckworth was also found to be in possession of illegal items.

The sheriff says there are also potential federal violations that are being investigated.

The shotgun and rifle may have been stolen as the origin of the weapons as yet to be determined.
