This is the third Thursday of the month, and that means it’s Nevada County Historical Society Speaker night. Tonight’s topic is the stretch of the Transcontinental Railroad that ran from Sacramento to Reno. Bill George is a historical documentary film maker and writer and will show his 37-minute film, Hidden Wonder of the World. George says the railroad changed the way people in our area lived.
After the showing, George will answer questions and discuss his film. He says the discussion is his favorite part of showings like these, because locals often have stories about the railroad he’d never heard before.
The free event starts at 7 p.m. at the Madelyn Helling Library in Nevada County. The Historical Society has warned that past events have been standing-room-only so show up early for a seat.
