Transients Cause Concern on Bear River

Repeated complaints by property owners along the Bear River has Deputy Sheriffs walking the river bed. Nevada County Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Pettit says a deputy was walking the river bed two miles above the Bear River Bridge on Dog Bar Road when he found a man gold mining and camping. The Captain says 42 year old James Goddard was contacted at his camp next to the river and  was found to be on searchable probation.

Goddard,-JasonGoddard was taken into custody for suspicion of possession of drug without a prescription, cultivation of marijuana and violation of probation.
