Tree Work Slows Traffic on Hwy 49

CalTrans is doing some tree removal work on Highway 49 today between Grass Valley and Auburn. They’re dropping some trees that they are concerned might topple over and fall into traffic lanes. CHP Officer Greg Tassone says officers will be heading out there this afternoon to help control traffic.

He says CalTrans is dropping the large trees before they come down on their own. They are using a lot of heavy equipment.

Tassone says they will try to keep the wait times for stopped traffic to 10 minutes.
