Trial Date Set For Man Accused Of Attacking Girl

A trial date has been scheduled for the man accused of attacking and terrorizing a 10-year-old girl near a Grass Valley park in September. Christian Stevens, 45 years old at the time of his arrest, has been ordered to stand trial on January 19th. The girl testified, at a preliminary hearing, that Stevens had demanded to know where she lived, when he stopped her on a trail leading to Condon Park. She says he grabbed her by the neck. She began screaming for help, swung her trumpet case at him, and ran away. A search of Stevens revealed a hammer concealed inside his hooded sweatshirt.
