Truck into Power Pole Causes Alta Sierra Power Outage

He wasn’t speeding and drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor, but the CHP says a 73 year old driver struck a power pole and knocked out power to about 200 Alta Sierra residents late last (Tuesday) night.

CHP Officer Mike Steele says the driver, who was in a 2002 Ford F-250 pick up truck allowed the vehicle to veer off the road.

That in turn created a small grass fire but firefighters were able to put it out before it could spread.

The driver was not cited but a report was taken. PG and E had power restored to most customers by 2:15 am.
