Truck Lands in Squirrel Creek after Leaving Highway 20

Haz Mat officials are assessing the environmental damage after a driver lost control of his pickup in Penn Valley early Monday morning. CHP Officer Timothy Sheenan says the 29 year old male driver from Smartsville ran off the Highway 20 near Penn Valley Drive just after four in the morning. Officer Sheenan says the drives says he fell asleep as he was east bound on the highway.

Fire officials and the CHP noticed a oily sheen on the water and called the Fish and Wildlife and Enviormental Heath Officials to evaluate the possible spill. Officer Sheenan says the driver was not injured and his Dodge Pickup was quickly removed from the creek quickly.
