Two arrests, including a 17-year-old boy, after a robbery and massive search in the Penn Valley area Thursday afternoon. Nevada County Sheriff’s Department Spokesman Andrew Trygg says the boy accompanied 32-year-old Joseph Madigan, of Sacramento, into the Dollar General Store, where Madigan left the store with several items without paying for them…
After the pair fled, Trygg says the clerk believed Madigan was linked to a U-Haul truck that was parked nearby. By the time deputies arrived, he says Madigan had left the area. But, with the help of a CHP helicopter, they found the truck parked behind the Taco Shell, where the contacted and arrested the boy for robbery. During that time, a woman associated with the boy fled on foot and was reported to be running through home properties with a man who was believed to be Madigan. Shortly afterward, Trygg says a homeowner called to say that he had Madigan at gunpoint. He was taken into custody without incident…
The woman, 44-year-old Jerri Hawkins, also from Sacramento, was found living in a boat, on Saturday, and also arrested. The 17-year-old boy is reported to be a runaway from Fresno County. His relationship with Madigan and the woman is unclear. No firearms were located.
