It started with what was believed to be two suspicious vehicles by a Nevada County Sheriff’s Deputy. It ended up with two arrests and the discovery of a number of drug-related items, Wednesday night. Sheriff’s Department Communications Manager, Andrew Trygg, says the deputy spotted two men, initially, standing near the vehicles that were in the parking lot of the former Kilroy’s Towing, off Highway 49. One of the men then crouched down and ran off in the woods. While waiting for additional backup, Trygg says the deputy detained the other man, 31-year-old Kalen Turner, from the town of Washington, and 41-year-old Desiree Hayden of Grass Valley. Also found was a glass bulb pipe used for smoking methamphetamine and a large bag of marijuana, as well as a police scanner app. Trygg says the two vehicles have not been identified as being stolen. But he says there were false plates on Turner’s vehicle. Meanwhile, the other man was not located, despite an extensive search that also included the use of a helicopter.
