Two Ballot Measures Move Close To Passage

Two local ballot measures considered too close to call, on Election Night, two weeks ago, are moving closer to passage. The closest vote has involved the bond for the Nevada Joint Union High School District, Measure B. It now has more than the required 55% of votes needed to pass, or 55.6%. It was 54.1% on election night. That’s about 300 votes over the threshhold. But there are still 2,258 uncounted votes countywide, although it’s not known how many would be tallied for Measure B, since it’s a district-wide measure. Meanwhile, the quarter-cent sales tax increase for the Nevada County library system, Measure A, now has 70.5% percent support, close to what it was on election night, with 66.7% support needed for passage, or two-thirds of the vote.
