Two Bear River High Students Killed In Crash

Two Bear River High School students have reportedly been killed in a head-on crash on Highway 49 north of Auburn that occurred early Thursday afternoon. Their names have not been released yet. A Highway Patrol officer tells the “Sacramento Bee” that the 18-year-old students were southbound, near Joeger Road, when, for unknown reasons, they crossed into the northbound lane, colliding with the other vehicle. There’s no word on the condition of the occupants of that vehicle. The northbound lanes are expected to remain closed, with one-way controlled traffic, until around 6 tonight.
