Two Elly Awards For Nevada Co Theatre Work

After 36 nominations, two Nevada County theatre productions received Elly Awards at recent ceremonies in Sacramento. Trish Adair got the lead actress award for a drama, for last year’s Quest Theaterworks’ presentation of “Gidion’s Knot”….

It was Adair’s second nomination. She says “Gidion’s Knot” is set during a parent-teacher conference where she’s the parent, who is also a teacher, who’s 11-year-old son has committed suicide…

The student had been suspended for his behavior. Adair is also a teacher in real life. Quest Theaterworks’ presentation actually had three interesting runs. The first had to be unpublicized, with only invited audience members, because it would conflict with the regional premiere in San Francisco. The second run was at a festival in Scotland. And the third took place in the conference room of the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools office. The other Elly was awarded to MaryAnn Carrigg for best costume design in a comedy, for “Johnny Danger”, at Lake Wildwood Community Theatre in Penn Valley.
