Schmidt says a patrol officer responded and saw the two female suspects get into a car. The officer tried to pull them over, but they soon after got on Highway 20 toward Penn Valley. The officer started to pursue them but later backed off near Rough and Ready Highway, when speeds reportedly reached as high as 100 miles an hour. That’s when the Highway Patrol took over. He says the suspects then drove down Penn Valley Drive before crossing back over Highway 20, proceeding again onto Rough and Ready Highway…

Schmidt says neither of the women were injured. They’re identified as 29-year-old Valerie Slavin and 28-year-old Julie Cannon. Both are believed to be from the Grass Valley area. Cannon was also arrested for drug possession, in May of last year, during a butane honey oil lab bust in Truckee.
